I’m Marcus Ho - DJ, event director, and founder of The Sound Collective.
My foundation was built long before weddings and packed dance floors. I came up in the 1990s Seattle underground rave scene, where I learned that real DJing isn’t about spectacle or chasing trends. It’s about timing, pacing, musical instinct, and understanding how the energy of music moves through a space.
I spent years in the nightlife ecosystem playing rooms where taste, execution, and timing were everything. Music always comes first. It sets the tone, drives the room, and creates lasting memories where the guest experience is the central focus.
To make that music truly land, I take a deeply collaborative approach to both curation and production. Long before the celebration, I work closely with couples to map out their music goals and overall flow. We take your personal taste, key moments, and vision, and translate them into a clear technical and musical blueprint—from bespoke sound design and multi-zone audio to seamless timeline management. Production isn't the star of the show; it’s the invisible backbone that allows the music to feel effortless and the energy to move naturally.
That philosophy defines The Sound Collective. Beyond technical prowess, every DJ on our roster is guided by the exact preparation and production blueprint I’ve cultivated. We treat sound design, timeline flow, and pre-event planning with the same level of care as the music itself—ensuring every celebration flows organically and intentionally.
My background as a professional actor also shapes how I navigate an event. Years on stage and screen sharpened my instincts for pacing, presence, and nuance. That background extends beyond the turntables into the room itself—anticipating what comes next, keeping the timeline fluid, and managing complex production mechanics seamlessly in the background.
Today, my work focuses primarily on luxury weddings and milestone celebrations. Kevin “KDOT LIM” Lim is a Brooklyn based DJ with over 20 years of professional experience across nightlife, weddings, and high end private events, bringing a seasoned yet contemporary approach to every setting he plays.
Known for his ability to read a room with precision and taste, Kevin does not just know what to play. He understands when and how to play it, allowing the energy of the space to build naturally while still feeling polished and elevated throughout the night.
His style is engaging without being intrusive, flexible without losing intention, and grounded in a genuine connection to the crowd. Whether the moment calls for familiar crowd pleasers or something more unexpected, Kevin creates an atmosphere where the dance floor feels organic, joyful, and alive, often with a little singing along when the mood is right.
